Delegation of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis holds several meetings with members of German Bundestag

Members of the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation—Nurlan Hasanov, Head of the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Germany interparliamentary relations, MPs Kamal Jafarov, Gulshan Pashayeva and Nigar Arpadarai visited Germany at the invitation of Mirze Edis, Chair of the German Bundestag’s Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the States of the Southern Caucasus.

As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani MPs held a number of meetings on April 21.

First, the delegation held a meeting at the German Foundation for Basic Values and International Understanding.

Following the meeting the MPs met with Mirze Edis, Chair of the German Bundestag’s Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the States of the Southern Caucasus and members of the group.

The sides exchanged views on the current state of inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, prospects for cooperation, as well as issues of mutual interest.

Subsequently, a meeting was held among the Azerbaijani officials and Omid Nouripour, Vice President of the Bundestag; Tom Prange, Head of the Division for Bilateral Relations with the countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus at the German Federal Chancellery.

During the visit, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany organized an event on the occasion of the visit at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Berlin.

The event on the theme “Azerbaijan–Germany Friendship Reception”, brought together members of the Bundestag, officials from various government agencies, journalists, scientists and cultural figures, and members of the diaspora.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Nasimi Aghayev, emphasized that the gathering is a manifestation of the partnership between the two countries, which has developed over the years and continues to grow stronger.

Other speakers of the ceremony included Nurlan Hasanov, Head of the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Germany interparliamentary relations; Mirze Edis, Chair of the German Bundestag’s Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the States of the Southern Caucasus, Niklas Wagner, Commissioner of the German Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia.

The event continued with an artistic program, during which participants enjoyed delicious samples of Azerbaijani national cuisine.

During the visit, the delegation of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis will also meet with Niklas Wagner, Commissioner of the German Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia on April 22.
