Gunay Afandiyeva: Azerbaijan stands at the forefront of regional and global dialogue

“President Ilham Aliyev’s participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum has confirmed our country’s political prestige on this platform. It further showcased Azerbaijan's vital regional role, its unwavering support for the Turkic world, and its proactive engagement in international processes. Simply put, Azerbaijan stands at the forefront of both regional and global dialogue,” said Gunay Afandiyeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Milli Majlis Committee for Culture.

"I believe the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva at the forum is a comprehensive presentation of our country’s large-scale diplomacy to the world. It symbolizes the unity of our state's political power and its cultural-humanitarian strategy. The President's resolute and principled international policy, combined with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva’s efforts to promote intercultural dialogue on international platforms, complement one another to demonstrate Azerbaijan’s multifaceted foreign policy," the MP stated.

She emphasized that the President’s meetings held within the framework of the forum reflected Azerbaijan's foreign policy across Europe, the Middle East, the Turkic world, and the broader Islamic world.

"President Ilham Aliyev’s bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Türkiye and Northern Cyprus serve as an example of how Azerbaijan maintains the 'line of brotherhood' as a distinct direction on its diplomatic map. These contacts reiterate that Azerbaijan develops political relations based on historical and cultural ties in accordance with its national interests. Furthermore, our country’s strategic partnership within the Islamic world is of vital importance. We can view President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif as a continuation of relations based on mutual support in the political, military, and economic fields, alongside our shared religious bonds," Afandiyeva noted.

"Additionally," she continued, "the head of state met with Ahmad Al-Sharaa, the transitional leader of Syria. Following the recent changes in Syria, the meeting emphasized the development of ties between the two nations and the importance of energy cooperation. This is an indicator of our country's constructive position, its agile diplomacy in the region, and its openness to future cooperation. Similarly, Azerbaijan’s partnership and support in the energy sector were highly valued during the meeting with Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
