The US Geological Survey announced that a 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred off the southwestern coast of Japan. The epicenter of the earthquake was reported to be 8 kilometers east of the Wadomari area in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake, which was recorded at a depth of approximately 42 kilometers.
