Azerbaijan’s most significant contribution to the global urban development agenda is its role in hosting international meetings and discussions at WUF13 and other high-level platforms, Sergio Roldán Gutiérrez, director general del City Science Lab (MIT-Universidad de Guadalajara) in Mexico, told AZERTAC, while participating at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The expert noted that cities today are facing complex and multifaceted challenges in organization and governance.
He underscored that international experience exchange is particularly important for fast-growing cities like Baku, noting that such platforms enable cities to move beyond a local perspective and think within a global framework. Sergio Roldán Gutiérrez added that by bringing together experts, urban planners, and policymakers, these forums foster new ideas and support the development of more effective governance models.
