UN-Habitat representative commends Azerbaijan’s reconstruction efforts in liberated territories

Azerbaijan is striving to achieve the full integration of its liberated territories, stated Stephanie Loose, Country Programme Manager for UN-Habitat Afghanistan, during an event titled “Housing for Post-Crisis Return: Enabling Durable Solutions” held within the framework of WUF13.

Pointing to Azerbaijan as an exemplary model, she noted that the situation in Afghanistan is significantly different. “They allocate land for displaced persons, and that land is sometimes unfavorable. Afghanistan is indeed a very beautiful country, although it has suffered from various crises for many years. Since 2023, the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance in the country has increased. Meanwhile, ongoing disputes with Pakistan persist. Furthermore, neighboring countries returning refugees back to Afghanistan leads to a further increase in the population,” the UN-Habitat representative added.
