US Secretary of State Rubio: We are receiving positive signals in negotiations with Iran
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated regarding the negotiation process with Iran that they have received some positive signals in the talks but do not want to become overly optimistic.
Before departing for the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting to be held in Sweden, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio answered journalists' questions at the airport regarding the ongoing talks with the Tehran administration. Regarding the process, Rubio stated, “We are receiving some positive signals. However, I do not want to be overly optimistic. We will all see in the next few days how the situation will evolve.”
Rubio pointed out that Iran's internal political structure appears divided and noted that the Washington administration is trying to maintain diplomacy within this complex picture. Emphasizing that the main goal of the US is to reach a solid agreement with Tehran, Rubio underlined that Iran's possession of nuclear weapons will definitely be prevented.
Reiterating their intention to reach an agreement, Rubio commented, “The President's usual priority has been to reach a good agreement. If we can achieve a reasonable compromise, it would be a great outcome. I am not here to guarantee that this will definitely happen, but we will make every effort to sign an agreement.”
