US Secretary of State Rubio's Statement on 'Iran'
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reported progress on a draft regarding a potential agreement with Iran.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke at a joint press conference following his meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi. Rubio mentioned that there might be new developments regarding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz later in the day, and stated that US President Donald Trump would make announcements on this matter. Rubio said, “Although 'serious progress' has been made towards reaching an agreement with Iran, a final conclusion has not been reached. I would like to remind that the ultimate goal is to ensure that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons.”

Rubio conveyed that they have made progress over the past 48 hours with their partners in the Gulf region on a draft aimed at fully opening the Strait of Hormuz and eliminating transit fees, stating, “We have also made significant progress in bilateral relations with India. I believe we will reach a beneficial, sustainable, and lasting trade agreement for both sides.”
