In a statement made on the Ministry of National Defense's social media account, it was stated, "Our Naval Forces personnel are conducting mission flights over Senegal's airspace and maritime jurisdiction areas to provide search and rescue training and support to the Senegalese Armed Forces. As part of the aircraft exchange, our maritime patrol aircraft, which departed from Topel airfield on May 16, 2026, was met by another maritime patrol aircraft at the Mauritania-Senegal airspace border on May 18, 2026."

Both our aircraft, which handed over and took over the mission, reached Senegal by proceeding to Dakar airfield in formation flight. On May 19, 2026, the flight crew that handed over and took over the mission conducted a mission handover/takeover flight within the scope of the standard mission flight profile, primary/secondary airfield traffic patterns, and environmental recognition," the statement said.
