US Secretary of State Rubio: Ambassador Barrack to Continue Playing a Vital Role in Syria and Iraq
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, is a key figure in US policies on Syria and Iraq, and will continue his work with the full support of the State Department.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared an assessment on his social media account regarding the duties undertaken by Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack. Rubio stated that Barrack is a central interlocutor on Syria and a reliable, key figure in Iraq, noting that Barrack will continue to play a vital role in the processes in the region. Rubio said, “He will continue to play a vital role not only as our Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey but also as we advance strategic cooperation with the Syrian government and begin our work with the new government in Iraq.”

 

Emphasizing that Ambassador Barrack is an indispensable member of US President Donald Trump's team, Rubio stated, “He has my full confidence and operates with the full support of the State Department. The American people benefit greatly from his ongoing willingness to lead these efforts.”

In a previous post, US Secretary of State Rubio had shared information that Barrack's term as 'Special Envoy for Syria' was nearing its end. In that post, Rubio stated, “Ambassador Tom Barrack has played an invaluable role as our Special Envoy for Syria. As this title nears its end, his expertise, relationships, and understanding of the 'America First' agenda will continue to provide gains for our great country, and he will continue to play a leading role on behalf of the Trump administration in both Syria and Iraq.”
