Iran: US attacks are a clear violation of international law
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the US attacks on certain regions in the south of the country, citing a downed helicopter as a pretext, are a clear violation of international law.
Iranian media published a written statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The statement noted that the recent attacks by the US are contrary to Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the United Nations (UN) Charter and the fundamental principle of international law prohibiting the use of force by states against each other. The statement emphasized that Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity were targeted, and it was stated, "In the framework of the country's legitimate right to self-defense, a response was given to the US bases and military assets in the region reported to be the source of the attacks."
The Ministry called on the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to fulfill their duties in maintaining international peace and security and ensuring that those responsible for the attacks are held accountable.
