Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi met with President Tufan Erhürman during his official visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). In a statement regarding the meeting on his social media account, Çiftçi said, “Today, we are in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, with which we are an inseparable whole due to our historical and cultural ties. We were received by the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mr. Tufan Erhürman. During our meeting, we evaluated the deep-rooted brotherhood ties between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, our common vision for the future of the Turkish Cypriot people, the developments in our region, and the cooperation between our institutions in combating irregular migration.”
Minister Çiftçi reported that President Erhürman of the TRNC expressed his satisfaction with Turkey's efforts in combating irregular migration and organized crime syndicates, and thanked him. Çiftçi stated, “The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is our second homeland, with which we have a shared destiny through its history, culture, and the sacrifices made shoulder to shoulder in the past. The support of the Republic of Turkey for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not a conjunctural issue dependent on periodic developments or individuals; it is a state policy that will not change regardless of the circumstances. Under the leadership of our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will continue to resolutely defend the just cause of the Turkish Cypriots on every platform; we will not allow any unilateral attempts to undermine peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and on the island. We continue to strengthen our cooperation in every field for the peace, security, and prosperity of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and I hope that the meetings we held today will lead to auspicious results.”
