Museum Heist in France
Jewelry worth millions of euros reported stolen from a museum in northeastern France.

 

The French press reported that a robbery took place yesterday at around 05:30 local time at the Lalique Museum in the town of Wingen-sur-Moder, located in the Bas-Rhin department. It was stated that the thieves broke the entrance door and six display cases of the museum, which exhibits approximately 650 works by the French glass and jewelry master Rene Lalique. Authorities announced that jewelry worth millions of euros was stolen in the heist.

 

Wingen-sur-Moder Mayor Christian Dorschner said that an investigation into the robbery has been launched, noting that the alarms and security system were active when the thieves entered the museum.
