U.S. President Donald Trump said, “We left nothing behind when withdrawing from Iraq. We left in an honorable and dignified manner.”
U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement about Iraq during a press conference held at the White House. Saying that being in Iraq was a mistake from the very beginning, Trump stated, “I am greatly honored to tell you this, we left in an honorable and dignified manner. In fact, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi has great respect for your President and us, and is grateful for everything.”
Trump noted that they could return to Iraq to help if necessary, and stated that leaving Iraq in this way after 23 years was a 'big event'. Trump mentioned that the U.S. 'lost 4,500 people' in Iraq, and said, “The result achieved was not worth it. The only reason we were in Iraq was to 'eradicate' the terrorist organization ISIS. We accomplished this in my first term.”
