The participation of an Azerbaijani delegation in the 7th Innovation Week in Mombasa highlights the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in youth development, education and sustainability.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev, underscored the importance of these ties.
The ambassador highlighted Azerbaijan’s achievements since restoring its independence and its contribution to regional peace and stability. He also praised the progress made in Azerbaijan–Kenya relations through educational and cultural initiatives.
Sultan Hajiyev briefed participants on events and meetings held the previous day at Fort Jesus in Mombasa, including the opening of the Swahili Cultural Library, renovated with the support of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA), and the presentation of the first Swahili-language edition of IRS-Urithi magazine.
He noted that under the Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant Programme, Kenyan students, including those from Mombasa, have the opportunity to pursue higher education in Azerbaijan on full scholarships each year.
The event also brought together the ambassadors of Germany, France and the Netherlands to Kenya, whose countries support educational and youth development projects in the country.
Musa Marjanli, Editor-in-Chief of the international IRS magazine and Director of the Centre for Cultural Heritage Studies at Baku State University, also attended the event.
