The Media and Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been established.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the relevant decree. The text of the document has been published on the official website of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the decree, the Media and Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan (the Council) is the legal successor to the Audio Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and its rights, obligations, and assets are transferred to the Council. The staffing level of the Media and Broadcasting Council is set at 108 full-time positions.
The public legal entity “Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan” is dissolved, and its rights, obligations, and assets are transferred to the Media and Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan (hereinafter referred to as the Council).
The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan is instructed:
within four months, to prepare and submit to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan proposals for bringing regulatory legal acts into compliance with this Decree.
Within one month:
ensure the transfer of state property currently on the balance sheet of the Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the public legal entity “Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan” to the Council’s balance sheet;
resolve issues related to the financing of the Council’s activities within the limits of the funds allocated in the state budget for the current year to the Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the public legal entity “Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan”;
take measures to provide the Council with an administrative building.
Furthermore, in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Public Service,” take measures to ensure that the Council’s staff is staffed by employees from the Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the public legal entity “Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
