Baku hosts panel session on “Youth Dialogue: Spotlighting Impact”

A plenary session entitled “Youth Dialogue: Spotlighting Impact” was held as part of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, themed “Dialogue for a Shared Future”.

The event was co-organized in partnership with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Culture.

Addressing the session, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), who also serves as the UN Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, spoke about the global challenges facing the modern world.

He underlined that climate change, wars and artificial intelligence were among the key challenges of our time. He added that the interconnected nature of these issues made addressing them even more complex.

Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, emphasized that young people not only adapt to a changing world but also play a crucial role in shaping its future.

Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture, noted that the youth camp organized as part of the forum helps build connections among young leaders from different countries and strengthen mutual understanding. He highlighted that more than 100 young people from 44 countries across five continents were participating in the forum.

During the plenary session, young people from France, India, Kenya and other countries also shared their experiences of intercultural dialogue. They spoke about projects carried out with peers from different countries and explained how these initiatives had helped promote cultural diversity and mutual understanding.
