SOCAR Trading is exploring opportunities to expand into markets across Africa and Southeast Asia, Togrul Kocharli, Head of Global Business Development at SOCAR Trading, said at the business forum held as part of the 28th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank in Baku.
According to Report, Kocharli said significant opportunities also exist on the western coast of the Black Sea, where SOCAR is already present but has yet to fully expand its operations.
"We are talking about Romania, Albania, Bulgaria and, of course, Greece. In Romania, we operate a network of filling stations. As for terminals, we have registered a company in Albania through which SOCAR is expanding its activities to begin supplying natural gas to the city of Korçë for the first time in the country's history. This is also one of our promising growth areas," he said.
At the same time, Kocharli noted that his team's primary focus is currently on entering new markets.
"We are looking at Africa and Southeast Asia-countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. These are enormous markets that are a bit farther away from us, but they nevertheless represent an attractive opportunity," the SOCAR Trading executive said.
