Ten European countries, including France and Ukraine, announced the formation of an Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition in response to the growing threat posed by ballistic missiles.
A meeting of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition was held in Paris, the capital of France, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. Following the meeting, leaders of Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom issued a joint written statement. The statement noted that the leaders of these countries are aware of the threat posed by ballistic missiles and the increasing importance of defense capacity for the European continent.
The statement announcing the establishment of a coalition solely for defensive purposes against ballistic missiles included the words, “We express our support for the leading project aimed at tirelessly working to develop anti-ballistic capacity.”
The statement committed to creating a roadmap for the coalition's initial operational capacity in accordance with international obligations and legal framework. It was reported that Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom are the founding countries of the coalition, and it was also noted that the coalition is open to the participation of countries sharing the same objectives.
