Azerbaijani language classes resume at Peking University

“The teaching of the Azerbaijani language has resumed at Peking University, one of the world’s most prestigious higher education institutions,” Agshin Aliyev, head of the Azerbaijani Language Department at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), told AZERTAC.

The classes are held twice a week, with each session lasting two academic hours. Students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs can attend the Azerbaijani language classes.

The first Azerbaijani language classes at Peking University were held in the 2017–2018 academic year. Growing interest in the language and the development of China–Azerbaijan relations into a comprehensive strategic partnership have led to their resumption.

Agshin Aliyev, head of the Azerbaijani Language Department at Beijing Foreign Studies University, was again invited to teach the classes. He said the initiative marks an important step in expanding Azerbaijani language education in China and increasing interest in Azerbaijan’s language and culture among Chinese youth and researchers.
