A presentation of the “Joint Silk Road Highlights Tour,” a joint tourism route between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, was held in Berlin.
The tour aims to promote the tourism potential of both countries in the European market and attract more foreign visitors.
The event was organized as part of a joint initiative launched under a memorandum of understanding on cooperation signed by the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and the Uzbekistan National PR Center in July 2026.
The initiative envisages the creation of a unified tourism product showcasing the historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as their shared traditions associated with the Great Silk Road. It also aims to strengthen both countries’ positions in the international tourism market and enhance the route’s appeal to European travelers.
The presentation brought together representatives of more than 20 companies and over 40 professionals from Germany’s tourism industry. Participants were introduced to the route’s offerings, which include the historic cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Baku, Shamakhi, and Sheki.
The destinations offer travelers an opportunity to explore the region’s rich cultural heritage, architectural monuments, and enduring Azerbaijani and Uzbek traditions.
The event also featured meetings with German tourism industry representatives aimed at developing business relations, establishing new partnerships, and expanding opportunities to promote joint tourism products across the European market.
The initiative creates additional opportunities to strengthen international tourism cooperation, diversify tourism offerings, and increase tourist flows between the two countries. It also gives travelers broader opportunities to explore the cultural and historical heritage of the Great Silk Road by bringing together renowned historical sites in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan along a single route.
