Cuban President Diaz-Canel: Cuba does not threaten, it is constantly threatened
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated that they have never engaged in aggressive actions against the national security of the USA, saying, “Cuba does not threaten, it is constantly threatened.”
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel made statements on his social media account, evaluating relations with the USA and allegations of threats against Cuba. Arguing that his country does not pose a danger as claimed, Diaz-Canel said, “Cuba does not threaten, it is constantly threatened.”
Recalling that they are approximately 145 kilometers away from the USA, Diaz-Canel stated, “During the more than 60 years of socialist revolution, not a single aggressive act against the national security of that country has emerged from this land; on the contrary, Cuba has contributed to the USA's protection of its own security in combating various types of international crimes.”
Emphasizing that they have been the target of countless aggressive acts planned from the USA during the revolutionary years, which have caused the death or injury of thousands of Cubans, Diaz-Canel said, “Portraying our country as a threat is a cynical attitude, as history has proven and current realities also indicate that every day a new threat comes from the USA towards Cuba.”
Criticizing the sanctions and economic accusations against Cuba, Diaz-Canel said, “Portraying Cuba as a threat, while on the one hand deciding on additional coercive measures and on the other accusing its government of being unable to keep its economy afloat even at a minimal level, is so inconsistent and imaginary that even those who put forward this thesis cannot defend it with solid arguments.”
Diaz-Canel stated that the ongoing process targets the people, saying, “All of this is part of a narrative designed to continue to strangle the Cuban people and escalate a conflict that could have unimaginable consequences for our peoples and our region; Cuba does not threaten, does not challenge, but it is not afraid either.”
