Chinese President Xi Calls for 'Cessation of Conflicts in the Middle East'
Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region is at a critical point between war and peace, saying, “The war must be urgently stopped.”
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on an official visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing this morning. In his speech during the meeting, Xi stated that the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region is at a critical point between war and peace, emphasizing the urgent need to stop the war and the importance of insisting on peace talks. Xi said, "Ending wars as soon as possible will positively contribute to maintaining the stability of energy supply, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the industrial chain, and preserving the global trade order."
Xi noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia Strategic Partnership of Coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the 'China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.' He emphasized that 25 years ago, China and Russia signed the treaty, establishing a legal framework for long-term good-neighborly relations and comprehensive strategic cooperation, which has led to a significant leap in China-Russia relations since then.
XI: A FAIR 'GLOBAL GOVERNANCE SYSTEM' SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED
Xi Jinping noted that mutual political trust between the two sides is continuously deepening, cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, energy, science, technology, culture, and local governments is advancing, and the bonds between the peoples are strengthening. Highlighting that China-Russia bilateral relations have entered a rapidly developing phase with more achievements, Xi stated, "As permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and major global powers, China and Russia should accelerate the development of both countries through more qualified comprehensive strategic coordination with a strategic and long-term perspective and establish a more fair 'global governance system.'"
PUTIN: WE WILL CONTINUE COOPERATION WITH CHINA
Russian President Putin stated that Russia-China relations have reached an unprecedented high level. Despite the presence of adverse external conditions, Putin noted that the interaction between Russia and China has gained strong and high momentum, saying, "Our trade volume has increased 30 times over the past 25 years. For several years, it has comfortably exceeded 200 billion dollars. During a period when the crisis in the Middle East continues, Russia remains a reliable supplier of energy resources, and China continues to be a responsible customer of these resources."
Putin pointed to the stability of Russia-China cooperation in the international arena, stating, "During a period dominated by tensions in the world, we will maintain close communication and cooperation with China on multilateral platforms such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the G20."
Ministers and senior officials from Russia and China signed more than 20 documents in various fields, including economy, transportation, and technology, in the presence of Putin and Xi.
