A panel titled “Neuro Urbanism How Cities Shape the Brain Behaviour and Mental Well Being” was organized as part of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13).

The panel explored how urban planning, architecture, neuroscience, and public policy together influence people’s well-being, behavior, stress levels, and social interactions in urban environments.

The speakers included Anar Valiyev, Associate Professor at ADA University; Shahnaz Badalova, Deputy Head of the Urban Planning and Territorial Development Department at the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture; clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Fidan Amrahli Seyidbayli and others.

The speakers discussed how cities influence people’s way of thinking, emotions, and behavior, the necessity of multidisciplinary cooperation for urban development, and other related topics.

According to the panel’s final conclusion, cities affect not only infrastructure and mobility but also people’s thought processes, emotions, behavior, and social well-being. It was also emphasized that the formation of future cities requires stronger integration between the fields of architecture, urban planning, psychology, public policy, and neuroscience.
