Mexican Director General: It is important to take into account the unique characteristics of each ethnic group

“Mexico is a culturally shaped country, where indigenous peoples live together and our daily lives are part of a fusion of two cultures,” said Mariana Posada Lombana, current Director General for Relations with Civil Society Organizations at Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), during the roundtable on the theme “The Rights of Indigenous Peoples Roundtable” held as part of the WUF13.

“Talking about indigenous peoples, we refer to a huge diversity — ethnic groups, languages, settlement patterns, and the customs and legal practices that are unique to each group. Therefore, it is crucial to avoid a single, homogeneous approach. That is, it is important to take into account the unique characteristics of each ethnic group,” the Mariana Posada Lombana underscored.
