Romanian Director Cristian Mungiu Wins Palme d'Or
Romanian director Cristian Mungiu won the Palme d'Or at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France with his film 'Fjord'.

The jury presidency of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, held in France, was chaired by South Korean director Park Chan-wook this year. Romanian director Cristian Mungiu won the Palme d'Or with his film 'Fjord'.

The Best Director Award went to Spanish directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi for their film 'La Bola Negra', as well as Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski for 'Fatherland'.

The Jury Prize was awarded to German director Valeska Grisebach for her film 'L'Aventure revee'.

At the festival, Russian director Andrei Zviaguintsev received the Grand Prize for his film 'Minotaure', while the Best Screenplay Award was won by French screenwriter Emmanuel Marre for the script of 'Notre Salut'.

Belgian Emmanuel Macchia and French actor Valentin Campagne were awarded the Best Actor Award for their roles in the film 'Coward'.

This year's Best Actress Award went to Belgian actress Virginie Efira and Japanese actress Tao Okamato for their roles in the film 'Soudain'.

The Camera d'Or was awarded to Rwandan director Marie-Clementine Dusabejambo for her film 'Ben'Imana', while the Short Film Award went to Argentine director Federico Luis for 'Para Los Contrincantes'.

The Honorary Award was given to American actress Barbra Streisand, New Zealand director Peter Jackson, and American actor John Travolta.
