U.S. President Donald Trump stated that they made a great deal with Iran, saying, “We've now moved to the second phase.”
U.S. President Donald Trump met with Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during the G7 Summit held in Evian, France. In a statement before the meeting, Trump announced that the second phase of the agreement between the U.S. and Iran had begun. Saying they made a great deal with Iran, Trump stated, “I don't believe in a regime change in Iran and it would take years. We are not investing in Iran but we have a fair agreement. Iran currently has a rational leadership. If we hadn't canceled the P5+1 nuclear agreement from 2015 during the Obama era, Iran would have had nuclear weapons five years ago. I ended this agreement in 2018.”
Trump stated that the U.S. would not transfer any financial resources to Iran, noting that they are not investing in Iran. Emphasizing that Iran agreed never to possess nuclear weapons with the agreement, Trump said, “If they want nuclear, they will experience hell.”
'WITHOUT THE U.S., THERE WOULD BE NO ISRAEL'
In his assessment regarding Israel, U.S. President Trump also mentioned his meeting with Netanyahu. Trump said, “We talked about some details. I didn't like the attack on Beirut at all. I saw that attack, it was really a big attack. Without the U.S., there would be no Israel. Without me, there would be no Israel. No other U.S. president did what I did. I had a great relationship with Bibi, but now Bibi should act more responsibly regarding Lebanon. Lebanon was a great country in the past, a country of intellectuals. They also have no means to defend themselves. I am not at all pleased with Israel's behavior regarding Lebanon. It affects the big picture, it also affects the agreement with Iran,” he said.
When asked about the steps Israel would take regarding the agreement, Trump said, “The Syrian leader is very skilled regarding Hezbollah and managed to stabilize the country. If Israel can't do this, Syria can succeed. Israel has been fighting Hezbollah for a long time and many people have lost their lives. I told Israel, 'Let Syria deal with Hezbollah.' To be frank, they would do a better job than Israel.”
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine War, Trump said, "Russia should make a deal. There are many disputes between Putin and Zelensky. Dozens of people are dying on both sides. I don't want this to be the case.”
