Two Earthquakes of Magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 Strike Venezuela 39 Seconds Apart
The South American country of Venezuela was shaken by consecutive earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 occurring 39 seconds apart. While it was reported that buildings collapsed in some cities, no statement was made regarding casualties.

According to data from the US Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 occurred 24 kilometers northeast of San Felipe city in Yaracuy state, Venezuela. The depth of the earthquake was measured at 21.9 kilometers. Thirty-nine seconds after this earthquake, another one with a magnitude of 7.5 occurred 23 kilometers southeast of Yumare city in the same state. The depth of this earthquake was measured at 10 kilometers.

The consecutive earthquakes occurring 39 seconds apart were felt in many regions, including Venezuela's capital Caracas and Colombia's capital Bogota. Following the earthquake, Venezuela's Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello stated that some buildings in the capital Caracas had collapsed. However, no information was shared regarding casualties. Minister Cabello warned citizens not to enter buildings due to the possibility of new earthquakes and aftershocks.
