NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made statements to journalists after his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House. Rutte said that during the meeting, they discussed the upcoming NATO Summit in Ankara and the issues related to increasing defense spending by Europe and Canada.
Rutte noted that NATO countries have adopted a common stance on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, arguing that Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons would pose a threat to the entire world. Rutte stated, “Iran should not have nuclear weapon capability in any way.”
Emphasizing Trump's commitment to NATO, Rutte said, “US President Trump expects allies to increase their defense spending.”
