On the sidelines of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s annual session in The Hague, a series of meetings were held to discuss the prospects of cooperation between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and the Netherlands.
Gaya Mammadov, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and head of the Working Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Netherlands, alongside delegation members Sevinj Fataliyeva, Azay Guliyev, and Tural Ganjaliyev, conducted discussions with key Dutch parliamentary representatives.
Mammadov met individually with Mei Li Vos, Speaker of the Dutch Senate, and Thom van Campen, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Following these talks, the full Azerbaijani delegation held an expanded meeting with members of the standing committees on foreign relations from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, led by Boris Dittrich, First Vice-President of the Senate.
The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations, Azerbaijan’s strategic role in Europe’s energy security and transport-logistics corridors, regional developments, the post-conflict transition, and the ongoing peace agenda. Both sides emphasized the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening ties and stressed the importance of maintaining a regular inter-parliamentary dialogue.
Over the course of the session, Jan van Zanen, Mayor of The Hague, also met with the delegation, sharing positive impressions from his recent trips to Baku to attend the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum.
