Iranian President Mesud Pezeşkiyan stated that the attacks by the US and Israel on his country threaten global energy security and the world economy.
Iranian President Mesud Pezeşkiyan spoke at the 8th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit in Moscow, Russia, attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Pezeşkiyan stated that global energy security is facing unprecedented challenges, noting that the US and Israel conducted military attacks on Iran in two stages while political negotiations were ongoing. Pezeşkiyan said, "The destruction of our country's energy infrastructure and the creation of artificial barriers to the transit of energy resources directly threaten global energy security and the world economy. In addition to sanctions against Iran, the US is imposing sea and air blockades. The Washington administration is also forcing other countries to comply with the blockade," he said.
Pezeşkiyan noted that Iran has the world's second-largest proven natural gas reserves and stated that his country has increased production in the energy sector despite long-standing sanctions.
