Solo exhibition by artist Emil Aziz to open at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum

A solo exhibition by artist Emil Aziz titled “Pattern and Silhouette” will open at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum on December 19. The exhibition will feature 50 works by the artist, notable for their rich thematic diversity.

The exhibition presents Garabagh’s cultural heritage through a contemporary visual language, aiming to merge the millennia-old memory preserved in traditional carpet ornaments with the aesthetic sensibilities of the 20th and 21st centuries.

A special place in the exhibition is devoted to images of Garabagh horses depicted in harmony with ancient carpet patterns, as well as portraits of women. The movement, strength, and poetic silhouette of the horse resonate with the structured rhythm of the ornaments. In other works, carpet motifs serve as expressions of a woman’s identity, inner world, connection to the past, and forms of self-expression in the modern era.

“Pattern and Silhouette,” where tradition meets modernity, stands as an artistic manifesto demonstrating how Garabagh’s cultural treasures are preserved while being creatively reinterpreted for future generations.

The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum consistently supports young artists who draw inspiration from the nation’s rich carpet heritage. In this context, the “Pattern and Silhouette” project represents another significant contribution to the contemporary presentation of national cultural values.

The exhibition will run until December 21.
