Ankara Music and Fine Arts University street named after Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli

A street at the Ankara Music and Fine Arts University has been named in honor of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, the outstanding Azerbaijani composer and towering figure in Turkic music, as part of a joint initiative between the Azerbaijani Cultural Centre of the country’s embassy in Türkiye and the university.

The opening ceremony of the street brought together diplomats, the leadership of the university, scientists, public representatives, and students.

The speakers included Erhan Özden, Rector of the Ankara Music and Fine Arts University; Samir Abbasov, Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center; Fuzuli Majidli, Counselor at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ankara.

The event continued with a concert program organized by the Azerbaijan Cultural Center dedicated to Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s legacy.

Gulyanag Mammadova, People's Artist of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan; vocalists Şenol Talibli, Fakhri Nijat Kazim, and opera singer Fidan Huseynova performed the works of Uzeyir Hajibeyli at the concert program.
