UN World Interfaith Harmony week explores Azerbaijan’s peace initiatives, international cooperation

A delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture, attended the high-level session at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the World Interfaith Harmony Week running until February 7.

Addressing the session, Farid Jafarov highlighted Azerbaijan's contributions to regional and global peace and stability under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the role of the "Baku Process" as a global platform for intercultural dialogue.

The Azerbaijani delegation held meetings with several UN officials, namely Felipe Paullier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs; Miguel Ángel Moratinos, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC); Nihal Saad, UNAOC Director; and Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, Deputy Executive Director for UN Women.

The meetings focused on the involvement of youth and women in cultural processes, as well as on cooperation within the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.
