Azerbaijani and Turkish archaeologists to implement joint projects on study of Kur-Araz culture

Samir Abbasov, Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center under the country’s Embassy in Türkiye, met with a delegation of Azerbaijani and Turkish archaeologists led by Bülent Gönültaş, Deputy Director General of Cultural Heritage and Museums at Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The meeting was attended by Mehmet Işıklı, Professor at Atatürk University; Aynur Özfırat and Gencay Güloğlu, Professors at Mardin Artuklu University; and Muzaffar Huseynov, Associate Professor at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.

The sides discussed joint efforts to study and promote the Kur-Araz culture, a rare heritage reflecting the deep roots of the two countries’ shared past, as well as ways to implement joint projects in this field.
