Alexei Overchuk: Mutual tourism flow between Azerbaijan and Russia reached over 700,000 in 2025

“The mutual tourist flow between Azerbaijan and Russia amounted to 701,500 people in 2025. Of these, approximately 500,000 Russian nationals traveled to Azerbaijan, while around 200,000 Azerbaijani citizens visited Russia,” said Alexei Overchuk, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, at the 24th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Zangilan.

He described transport communications—particularly the North–South International Transport Corridor—as one of the key pillars of strategic cooperation between the two countries.

According to Overchuk, the volume of road freight transportation between Azerbaijan and Russia exceeded 5.4 million tons in 2025, marking a 9 percent increase.

The Russian official also noted that the construction of the Astara–Rasht railway is of great importance for ensuring the full-scale operation of the North–South Corridor.
