Chairman of State Tourism Agency: Tourism share in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector reaches 5.3 percent

“In 2025, the share of tourism in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector reached 5.3 percent for the first time, marking a 0.6 percent increase,” said Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, during his speech at the Azerbaijan–Russia Business Council meeting held in Baku.

According to him, the tourism sector’s contribution to the national economy has risen to 7.5 percent.

The Chairman added that tourism covers more than 20 sectors and creates a significant multiplier effect.

He noted that Russia remains one of Azerbaijan’s priority tourism markets. “Since 2024, the country’s official tourism office has been operating in Moscow. The Roadmap signed for 2024–2026 provides a basis for increased tourist flows. The inclusion of the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic regions in the tourism map opens up new opportunities for the sector’s development,” Naghiyev said.
