The First Green Eco International Forum marking the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held in Ganja, initiated by Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ADAU) in partnership with the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (MATE).
The participants of the event paid tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev by laying flowers at his monument.
Prior to the forum, the participants viewed an exhibition of students' handicrafts and stands prepared by university staff.
They first observed a minute of silence in memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, and then the National Anthem was performed.
Addressing the forum, ADAU Rector Zafar Gurbanov stressed the importance of the event, adding that amid the growing challenges posed by environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and global food security, the transition to the “green economy” model has become a strategic necessity. The policy pursued in Azerbaijan in this area, including the “Clean Environment and Green Growth Country” target defined as part of "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development," is of great importance.
The other speakers at the forum also included Adil Taghiyev, Deputy Head of the Ganja City Executive Authority; Elchin Zeynalov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture; Nasar Hayat, FAO Representative and Head of the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan; Recep Öztop, Consul General of Türkiye in Ganja; Sunniya Durrani-Jamal, ADB Azerbaijan Country Director; Parvin Karimzadeh, member of the Milli Majlis, etc.
Then, the event featured the screening of ADAU’s promotional video.
The forum continued its work with panel discussions on green concepts in science and education, green agriculture and education, industry, and international partnership.
