Bishkek hosts 2026 SCO Media and Think Tank Summit

The 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit, marking the organization's 25th anniversary, has opened in Bishkek.

Co-organized by Kyrgyzstan's Kabar National News Agency and China's Xinhua News Agency, the event has brought together nearly 200 representatives from 25 countries.

Representatives of AZERTAC, the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan, and Trend News Agency are representing Azerbaijan at the forum.

Mederbek Shermetaliyev, Director General of the Kabar National News Agency, said the forum aims to facilitate the exchange of experience among leaders and experts from leading media organizations.

He noted that no official documents are expected to be signed during the forum, adding that its primary objective is to promote professional dialogue and the sharing of best practices.

Participants are discussing the key challenges facing today's media environment, the development of digital technologies, cybersecurity, the application of artificial intelligence, combating disinformation and fake news, and ensuring information security within the SCO.
