Missile attack on a hotel in Zaporizhia: 1 dead
In the missile attack organised by Russia on a hotel in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, 1 person lost his life and 19 people were injured. Denise Brown, United Nations (UN) Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) Ukraine Coordinator, stated that UN personnel and other aid organisations frequently use this hotel and described the attack as "Absolutely unacceptable".

The Ukrainian police announced today that 1 person, identified as a woman, died and 19 people, including 4 children, were injured in the missile attack on the hotel in Zaporizhia by Russia yesterday. Denise Brown, the United Nations (UN) Humanitarian Aid Coordinator for Ukraine, made the following statements about the attack yesterday;

"I am appalled by the news that a hotel frequently used by United Nations staff and our colleagues from NGOs (non-governmental organisations) supporting people affected by war was recently hit by a Russian attack in Zaporizhia.

It is absolutely unacceptable.

"I STAYED IN THIS HOTEL EVERY TIME I VISITED ZAPORIZHIA"

I have stayed in this hotel every time I visit Zaporizhia. My team uses it as a base for their frequent trips to the city. (It) was the UN base for the operation to evacuate civilians from the Azovstal facility in Mariupol in May last year.

The number of indiscriminate attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, killing and injuring civilians has reached unimaginable levels - in violation of international humanitarian law.

In the name of humanity, I call on the Russian Federation to honour its obligations under international humanitarian law and immediately stop the indiscriminate attacks on Ukraine."
