US President Donald Trump stated that he spoke with Iranian officials about not closing the Strait of Hormuz, warning, “If you close the Strait of Hormuz, you will have no country left. You won't even be able to return to your country.”
US President Donald Trump made a statement to the American press regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Trump, citing Israel's attacks on Lebanon as a reason, asked Iranian officials, who announced yesterday that the Strait would be closed, not to do such a thing. Emphasizing that he had spoken with Iranian officials, Trump noted that he warned them, "If you close the Strait of Hormuz, you will have no country left. You won't even be able to return to your country."
Trump also mentioned that if necessary, the US could seize the Strait of Hormuz and charge a passage fee. Trump stated that in such a case, they could take 20% of the oil passing through the Strait, and highlighted that as of yesterday, 19 million barrels of oil had passed through the Strait as a result of the agreement made with Iran, which he emphasized was very important.
'60-DAY PERIOD FOR NEGOTIATIONS HAS STARTED'
In his statement, Trump also referred to Israel, saying, "I am disappointed that Israel cannot eliminate Hezbollah. They can't do anything without demolishing buildings."
Addressing Iranian President Mesud Peşekiyan, who reportedly signaled that they would not give up their right to enrich uranium, Trump said, "He better watch what he says, or we'll take over the rest of the country."
Trump pointed out that the 60-day period for negotiations with Iran has begun, stating that they will see within this period whether a final agreement can be reached. Trump said, "I have a 60-day option, after which I can do whatever I want."
TRUMP'S 'HEZBOLLAH' WARNING TO IRAN
In a post on his social media account, US President Donald Trump noted the following:
"Iran must immediately prevent its high-paid proxy forces in Lebanon from causing trouble. Otherwise, we will strike Iran very hard again, as we did last week, and even harder this time."
