“The US is expected to become more broadly and actively involved in the region. We are also observing the formation of a new U.S. geostrategic approach to Central Asia and the wider Caspian region. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan–US relations have entered a completely new stage,” Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said at the CAMCA Regional Forum.
He noted that US President Donald Trump and his administration played a commendable role in the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process.
“Our commitment to peace received very strong reciprocity from the US. They stated that they support the peace agenda. Consequently, President Trump put his political weight behind this process,” the Presidential Assistant said.
