Azerbaijan joins World Women Parliamentarians’ Forum

Azerbaijan was represented at the World Women Parliamentarians’ Forum, held under the auspices of Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa.

Titled “From Representation to Influence in the Decision-Making Process,” the forum brought together nearly 150 parliamentarians from 32 countries, as well as representatives of nine parliamentary networks and international organizations.

Parvana Valiyeva, a member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, attended the forum.

She addressed a panel session on the legal environment, changes, and reforms aimed at ensuring gender equality. She also delivered a presentation during a panel discussion on the second day, focusing on the role of citizens, civil society, and the private sector in empowering women across all spheres.

Valiyeva spoke about the activities of civil society institutions in Azerbaijan, placing particular emphasis on the role of NGOs in protecting women’s rights and expanding their opportunities.

She also highlighted significant reforms aimed at supporting women’s entrepreneurship and increasing women’s participation in the economy.

During the visit, Valiyeva met with Songobai Zamira, head of the Mongolia–Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary working group, and other Mongolian counterparts.

The forum was regarded as an important platform for promoting women’s sustained participation in economic, social, public, and political life, strengthening their role in decision-making, and facilitating the exchange of experience among countries.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of increasing women’s representation not only in traditional fields but also in emerging and strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and countering hybrid threats.
