A collapse occurred in a mine located between the settlements of El Chambero and Bellavista in the Narino administrative region of Colombia. Authorities reported that illegal gold mining was taking place in the mine, resulting in the deaths of 14 people and injuries to 7 others.
Narino Governor Luis Alfonso Escobar stated in his announcement that they stand in solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives, saying, "Our priority is to protect life, be with our families, and ensure timely intervention in this painful emergency."
