Kremlin: We hope for a meeting between Putin and Witkoff soon
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, “We hope for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump's special representative Steve Witkoff soon.”
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made statements to journalists in Moscow regarding the agenda. Peskov reported that efforts are ongoing for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump's special representative Steve Witkoff. Peskov stated, “We hope for a meeting to be arranged soon. We expect Witkoff to inform Putin about his contacts with Ukrainians and Europeans, and for an exchange of views on a number of important issues between Washington and Moscow to continue. We always find such meetings very important and meaningful, and we also value the mediation efforts of American negotiators.”
Regarding Trump's statement that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not the right person for negotiations, Peskov said, “For us, it is important that Ukraine is represented at the negotiation table by a legitimate representative, someone ready to make decisions to end the conflict. It is important that there is a party ready to take responsibility and make the necessary decision to end this war, representing the competent authorities in a legitimate manner.”
