US President Trump Makes 'Iran' Statement

US President Donald Trump answered questions from the press as he left the White House for an election rally in South Carolina. When asked, "Do you regret going to war with Iran?", Trump replied, “No. I think this is one of the best things we've done. We prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Previous presidents did not take this step. If we hadn't gone to war with Iran, Tehran would have acquired nuclear weapons and used them.”

Speaking about Russia, Trump said that negotiations are going well, stating, “We are currently negotiating with Russia on Ukraine. For the first time in a long time, we might be this close to an agreement. Some circles expect the US to impose sanctions on Russia in this environment. You don't impose sanctions while conducting negotiations.”

Trump noted that they thanked Moscow for the release of an American citizen named Stephen Hubbard by Russia, and expressed satisfaction that Russia did not get involved in the war process with Iran.
