US: Evacuation order only applies to mission staff in Saudi Arabia
US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that reports of an evacuation order for some personnel and families in Gulf countries are incorrect, clarifying that the measure only applies to mission staff in Saudi Arabia.

US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott shared a post on his social media account regarding reports that the US is 'preparing to issue an evacuation order for some personnel and family members serving in Gulf countries.' Pigott stated that this information is not accurate, saying, "The US State Department has issued a directive for departure from the country that does not fall under emergency conditions, only for US government personnel and family members in Saudi Arabia. Iran-backed Houthis have increasingly escalated their hostile actions towards Saudi Arabia; their attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructures have led to civilian casualties and significant travel disruptions. The safety and security of department personnel and their families remain our top priority. We will continue to take all necessary steps to protect and support them," he said.
