Pope Leo XIV, the head of the Vatican State and spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, is reported to be in good condition following lung surgery and is set to embark on a trip to South America in November.
In a statement by the Vatican Press Office, it was announced that Pope Leo XIV, who underwent surgery for lung cancer on October 13, is recovering well and will carry out his planned visit to South America, covering Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru, from November 6 to 17. The visit aims to strengthen ties with local churches and deliver a message of peace to the people of the region.
Dr. Luigi Carbone, providing information on the Pope's health, stated that recent tests and laboratory analyses have yielded positive results. It was noted that no additional cancer treatment is needed following the surgery, and the current clinical condition does not pose an obstacle to the trip.
Commenting on the visit, Pope Leo XIV said, “I am delighted to return to the continent where I have spent many moments of my life. I hope this journey will help us open our hearts to each other, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, and renew our commitment to proclaim the Gospel with joy.”
