UN Secretary-General Guterres: The Middle East Needs a New Security Architecture
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that no country in the Middle East can ensure lasting security at the expense of another, noting that the region needs a new security architecture.

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made statements on his social media account regarding the escalating tension in the Middle East and the regional security equation. Emphasizing that no country in the region can achieve lasting security at the expense of another, Guterres stated that the current structure and ongoing conflicts are unsustainable.

Highlighting the need to build a new security architecture in the Middle East, Guterres expressed that the future should be determined by regional actors rather than external interventions. Guterres said, “The region needs a new security architecture. An architecture where the future is shaped by the peoples and countries of the region, instead of endless wars often fueled by external actors.”
