Boosting relations with Azerbaijan is a key direction of Iranian foreign policy, says ambassador

“Enhancing relations with Azerbaijan is a key direction of Iranian foreign policy,” Mojtaba Demirchilou, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, told AZERTAC.

He noted that both Iran and Azerbaijan are committed to stable, peaceful, and predictable relations, emphasizing that any factor disrupting this process is undesirable.

The ambassador highlighted that the recent visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, made at the invitation of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, is part of the ongoing regular consultations between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries at various levels.

“Iran’s principled position has always been the peaceful resolution of all conflicts, including the Garabagh issue, based on recognized principles of international law,” he added.

Demirchilou also outlined key items on the bilateral cooperation agenda, including the construction and operation of hydroelectric power plants and the delivery of natural gas to Nakhchivan.
