Lu Mei: Humanitarian cooperation serves to strengthen friendship between peoples of China and Azerbaijan

Cooperation between China and Azerbaijan is not only mutually beneficial, but also has a clear humanitarian character, which directly benefits the peoples of both countries, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said during a briefing dedicated to the outcomes of the development of bilateral relations over the past year.

Chinese Ambassador emphasized that China provided financial aid worth 2 million yuan to Azerbaijan's Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) for demining of liberated territories, fulfilling commitments under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two heads of state, aiming to boost mine clearance and ensure safety.

Lu Mei also highlighted China's social initiatives in Azerbaijan, specifically delivering Chinese-made tech to two Baku orphanages in Khazar district. In this regard, she said, China-Azerbaijan friendship digital classrooms were established to help Azerbaijani youth with disabilities more successfully adapt to the digital era.

The diplomat mentioned that in November this year, she attended the handover ceremony of Chinese-funded distance learning equipment in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. As part of the project, 216 schools in Nakhchivan were provided with modern online learning equipment, which significantly improved learning conditions for schoolchildren.

Describing humanitarian cooperation bilateral in nature, the ambassador noted that the Azerbaijani side, in turn, supported the education sector in China by allocating funds for the construction of a playground for the second primary school in Malipo County, Yunnan Province.

“These projects aimed at improving people's living conditions are valuable examples of friendship between our countries. The fruits of cooperation genuinely benefit ordinary citizens, especially the younger generation, and create a solid foundation for further fostering public support for China-Azerbaijan friendship,” Lu Mei emphasized.
